Abstract:

THIS PAPER PRESENTS PRELIMINARY RESULTS OF AN UNDERGOING GEOMORPHIC ASSESSMENT OF CHABAHAR BAY CONDUCTED AS PART OF THE MONITORING AND MODELING STUDY OF SOME COASTAL PARTS OF SISTAN AND BALUCHESTAN AND BUSHEHR PROVINCES (MONITOR SB&B) PROJECT, INITIATED BY THE PORTS AND SHIPPING ORGANIZATION. THE FIRST PHASE OF THE MONITOR SB&B PROJECT INCLUDES A NUMBER OF INVESTIGATIONS COVERING SITE VISITS, OVERFLIGHT, GIS ANALYSIS OF HISTORIC AIRPHOTOS AND CHARTS, HYDROGRAPHIC AND TOPOGRAPHIC SURVEYS, A 25-YEAR WAVE HINDCAST, EXTENSIVE FIELD MEASUREMENTS AND VARIOUS 2DH AND 3D NUMERICAL MODELING OF HYDRODYNAMICS AND SEDIMENT TRANSPORT OF THE CHABAHAR AREA. THIS PAPER SUMMARIZES OUR OBSERVATIONS DURING A SITE VISIT COMPLETED IN JUNE 2006.

Abstract:

There are many estuaries on the Oman Sea and the Persian Gulf but Tang estuary is one of incomparable with its shape and occurrence course which is located in the east part of Tang port on Mokran coast of Iran. The geomorphology phenomena around this estuary is one of incomparable with its shape and occurrence course which is located in the east part of Tang port on Mokran coast of Iran. The geomorphology phenomena around this estuary concerning to geomorphology are so important and some conditional geomorphic like "Toumboloy of Tang" are unique.Recognition of morphologic situations of the region of case study either its shape and circumstances or genesis and appearance are most important and has positive effects in making basic installation and improve hunting and fishing industry in the region. In this article it will be tried recognizing phenomena and important geomorphologic conditions based on field experiences and objective observations in the region because the studied sources and accomplished works are so little.

Abstract:

AbstractThis article examines the role of geomorphological characteristics of Khor musa coast in the use of speedboats in military operations. The coasts of Khuzestan cannot be used for dredging operations for ships and warships with high tonnage due to the low slope and shallow water of the Persian Gulf, therefore, regional and extra-regional forces to carry out dredging operations against the Iranian military forces. and penetrating deep into the soil of Khuzestan, they should approach the shores of Iran through Khor musa. In this article, an attempt has been made to identify the coastal geomorphology of Khuzestan by using library resources and internet databases, and then with the help of the SWOT analytical model, the presence of coastal landforms such as mud flats, tidal flats, flood plains and 86 small estuaries. and large around Khor musa, which have created a spider web in this area, has been investigated. This article has come to the conclusion that the geomorphology of Khor musa provides the necessary conditions for deploying and using high-speed boats and conducting maritime suicide operations against warships of hostile forces.

Abstract:

INTRODUCTION: AT PRESENT THERE IS NO SINGLE METHOD OR MODEL THAT CAN ANSWER ALL OF THE QUESTIONS THAT COASTAL MANAGERS WILL POSE. THEREFORE, IN COASTAL ISSUES, A RANGE OF EXPERTISE WILL ALWAYS BE REQUIRED WHEN ASSESSING AND PREDICTING LARGE-SCALE, LONG-TERM COASTAL CHANGE. SUCH EXPERTISE OF CONSIDERABLE IMPORTANCE IN COASTAL MANAGEMENT IS COASTAL GEOMORPHOLOGY. …

Abstract:

Coastal region are influenced by land and sea. Geomorphologic coast features are related to sea level change, regional river regime, erosion processes, sedimentation, climate change, geological outcrops and weathering and tectonics. Tom bolo, lagoon and barrier are geomorphologic coast features that can be seen in Bir coast of Iran. Therefore, recognizing the producing mechanism and their changes, leads supervisors to have better management, and do their best for civil and improving planning in coast area. In this research in addition to field studies and sampling, aerial photos 1.40000 (1993), topographic maps 1.20000, high resolution images (ETM and IRS) 1998, 2005, 2008 were used. It is concluded that the area is tectonically active, sedimentation; erosion processes, river regime and sea level change are caused to the Tom bolo, Lagoon and Barrier in Bir coast. Surveying the forms, sediment shows an obvious computation between marine currents as constructive process of Tom bolo, lagoon and barrier, and rivers as destructive process in Bir coast.

Abstract:

Introduction:Some of phenomena have certain relationships which cannot be raised as correlation, but they considered as duality. Concept of duality is regarded when a phenomenon with another phenomenon is dual. Although each of these phenomena are independent in nature, there is a relationship between them. So, we will analyze the behavior of phenomena in relation to other phenomena.

Abstract:

Advancing noval perpectives within the field of epistemology and human knowledge has invariablely led to the emergence of new horizons, which, in some cases, have not only augmented our ability to solve the problems confionting human beings, but have also enabled us to look at them from a different angle. As a result, some of these problems have changed concurrently with the replacement of old paradigms with new ones. By the same token, techniques of analysis, research methods and evaluation criteria have undergone substantial modification. Among the perspectives whose introduction into geography and the related sciences has brought about radical changes in problem identification, modes of analysis, research methodology and the relevant literature is spatial perspective. In this connection, geomorphology, as a sub-category of geographical sciences, has not been an exception to this rule.It goes without saying that familiarizing ourselves with the development of spatial perspective and its adoption in geomorphology can help us to get a better understanding of the concept in question. To achive this, we proceeded to select four outstanding geomorphologists and two geographers with a view of analyzing their writings on the concept of space, and thus tracing its evolution and formulation in the domain of geomorphology. The results of this research demonstrate that the concept of space was first introduced explicitly into geomorphology through the writings of Gilbert (1886), who used the term "Plexus" for the purpose. Ironically enough, Gilbert was not familiar with this concept in the form that was formulated later on.
